The QNCC was conceived with a focus on sustainability. It is the first convention and exhibition centre of its kind being built to the gold certification of the
U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED).
To achieve this certification, QNCC is using innovative technologies and strategies to enhance the venue’s performance in the areas of water and energy efficiency, use of materials and resources and indoor environmental quality.
Tapping Qatar’s endless sunshine, 3,676m² of solar panels (7,080 metres of roof area) will provide 12.5 per cent of the Centre’s energy needs.
The exhibition halls will have extremely energy efficient LED lighting.
Many other integrative design elements are being adapted to achieve the highest level of environmental and sustainable standards.
