DOHA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Doha International Airport is served by 26 international airlines which all operate regular scheduled flights from Europe, the US, and the Asia-Pacific region among others.

The airport is just five kilometres from the city centre.

A new airport, said to be the benchmark for all future airports, is currently being built to be an international transport hub for up to 50 million travellers each year.
It will have two parallel runways and can handle up to six A380-800 super jumbos at one time.

Setting new standards in airport efficiency, passenger convenience and comfort, the passenger terminal will feature a dedicated first class and business class terminal, huge duty free, retail, and food and beverage zones, a 100-room transit hotel, airline lounges, and extensive parking facilities.

Scheduled to open in 2012, the New Doha International Airport, will also be the hub for Qatar Airways.

TRANSPORT

The national transport company Mowasalat operates bus, taxi and limousine services.

Taxis can be hailed from the side of the road and the taxi service is 24 hours.Taxi fare from the airport to any destination in Doha should not exceed QAR25 (US$17).

Limousines can be booked for specific journeys or by the hour. Buses run an extensive route through Doha and the other large suburbs.
